Another Star Joins the Constellation of Satisfied Patients

“What surprised me the most was that I could already read on my phone that same evening. The next morning, I could see clearly at all distances, just like I did when I was 25…”

Esai Morales, the American actor who has appeared in more than 100 films and television series, took a short break between filming scenes with Tom Cruise for the upcoming installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise and traveled to Zagreb for eye surgery.

Although he looks considerably younger, Mr. Morales is 59 years old and had been struggling with age-related reading vision for quite some time. The team at Svjetlost Eye Clinic resolved his problem in just 10 minutes, restoring clear vision at all distances.

“My job is extremely demanding. In addition to being physically fit, I have to be able to read hundreds of pages of scripts. Unfortunately, despite all my efforts, my eyes had become the weakest link! I used to carry three pairs of reading glasses because I was constantly losing them. My good friend Armand Assante told me that he had solved his problem in Zagreb. After him, Cassandra Gava, Franco Nero, and Tim Roth further convinced me that Zagreb – and specifically Svjetlost Eye Clinic – was the best place in the world for me.

I arrived at noon, and by 4 p.m. I had already had my surgery. What surprised me the most was that I could already read on my phone that same evening. The next morning, I could see clearly at all distances, just like I did when I was 25!

Nothing about my body gave away my age, except when I tried to read – I would squint and move things farther away to make out what was written…

Professor Gabrić convinced me within just a few minutes of talking to him that his expertise and energy made him the right choice for my eyes. The surgery was completely painless and took less than five minutes per eye. The only thing I regret is not having done it sooner!”

The Svjetlost Eye Clinic team performed a bilateral implantation of Johnson & Johnson Synergy intraocular lenses for Mr. Morales. Synergy represents the latest generation of intraocular lenses designed to address the problem of age-related loss of near vision and reduce dependence on reading glasses. Synergy is also the lens Professor Gabrić personally chose for his own surgery last year.

Svjetlost is a global leader in the implantation of Synergy lenses, a position further confirmed by its status as a Johnson & Johnson educational center for advanced ophthalmic technologies – only the second center of its kind in all of Europe.
